Building Blocks: Fifteen Years of Community Architecture

To review and present fifteen years of work since the first Storefront Studio, Jim Nicholls and Stacy Cannon curated an exhibit covering the entire scope and output of the studio. King County’s 4Culture, the UW College of Built Environments and the UW Department of Architecture supported a show in the Gould Court Gallery and an exhibit book. The show ran from March 26 2018 to May 4 2018.

The exhibit included panels showing the content of the Studio’s book, Building Blocks, a map table of locations the studio has worked in, two walls of newspaper clippings from the different community newspapers, a reading library of all of the books the studio has produced for each location, a screen showing clips from community TV programs on Auburn and Snoqualmie, as well as a clip UW produced, the full set of Gig Harbor final open house boards, and actual furniture prototypes from the University Way alley activation project.
